How our tip calculator works

Enter the bill amount

Type the pre-tip total from your receipt. The tip is calculated on the pre-tax bill by default; switch to post-tax if your group prefers.

Choose a tip percentage

Pick 15%, 18%, 20%, or 25%, or enter any custom percentage. US restaurant norms are 18-20% for good service, 25%+ for exceptional.

Split between people

Add the number of people splitting the bill. The calculator divides the bill and tip evenly and shows each persons total to the cent.
