Key things to know about our exponent calculator:

  • Exponent rules: a^m x a^n = a^(m+n). a^m / a^n = a^(m-n). (a^m)^n = a^(m*n). These rules are the foundation of scientific notation and logarithm math.
  • Scientific notation: Numbers are written as a x 10^b where 1 1 to 10le; a 1 to 10lt; 10. Useful for very large (1.5 x 10^23) or very small (6.022 x 10^-23) numbers in science and engineering.
