How it works

Type the total bill amount. Toggle 'pre-tax' or 'post-tax' depending on your local tipping custom. Most US guides suggest tipping on the pre-tax amount.
Choose 15%, 18%, 20%, or enter a custom percent. 18-20% is standard for good US restaurant service. Adjust up or down based on service quality.
Type how many people are splitting the bill, or leave at 1 if you are paying alone. The calculator shows the tip, total, and per-person amount.
